In the third round match at the All England Club, London, Saturday (8/7/2017), Kerber was forced to play three sets by Rogers. The German must fight for more than two hours before winning 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4.
Kerber was made a hassle by Rogers's violent blows from the back line. However, Kerber's maturity and experience led him to the next round.
Kerber just recorded 25 winner strokes in this game, while Rogers 48. However, Rogers who came from the United States to make 47 unforced error, while Kerber only 14.
"He hit the ball very hard, I just tried to find my rhythm," Kerber said as quoted by Reuters.
"The key is I'm struggling and never giving up, no matter what the score is, without this struggle I do not know if I will get away with it," he said.
Kerber's next opponent was Muguruza, the French Open champion last year. Muguruza qualified after beating Sorana Cirstea (Romania) with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki also stepped into the last 16. Wozniacki overcame resistance Anett Kontaveit (Estonia) with a score of 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2 and will then meet Coco Vandeweghe (United States).

Another seed, Agnieszka Radwanska, also survives. The Pole beat Timea Bacsinszky (Switzerland) 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 and will play Svetlana Kuznetsova (Russia) in the last 16.
